Winnipeg Free Press: Talks will escalate into all-out war soon. This could have gone within the CBA section but since there is a Jets bend, it goes up here.
TSN: Prospects Scheifele, Sutter ready to step it up. Always good to get a feel for how the Jets young prospects are doing and Dennis gives you some insight on these two notables.
NHL.com: Aiming higher in second season. Can it really get any better than what we experienced last year? About the only thing that could inspire an already nuts fan base would be a post season appearance.
NHL.com: Jets’ top 10 prospects get boost from recent drafts. The cupboard, which was left mostly bare following the move from Atlanta, is being steadily refilled by the Jets as they commit to building this team via the draft.
NHL.com: Kane’s future at top of Jets’ six questions. I think of all the questions the easiest to answer is number 6.
NHL.com: Lineup altered by addition of Jokinen. Not a ton of flash during free agency, but the addition of a big player like Jokinen was a solid move by Chevy & Company.

The Telegram: 2012-13 schedule released. Interesting that the Caps will face non-conference opponents like Hamilton and Toronto 8 times each. Always nice to also see some new teams like Albany and Adirondack.
CBA news:
Timmins Press: Cherry expects two-month NHL lockout. Jets fans might want to factor that in when selecting their games. Might be best to wait until after September 15th before you select your season tickets.
Comcast Philadelphia: NHLPA not surprised by lockout threat. You don’t bring in Donald Fehr if you aren’t prepared to play some hardball.
Montreal Gazette: Bettman betting that NHLPA will cave and fans will forgive and forget? Fans have short memories. Yes there would be bitter feelings but at the end of the day, if the NHL and NHLPA forgive and forget and it costs part of the season, the overwhelming likelihood is that the fans will return.
Mlive.com: Owners and players beyond foolish for willingness to jeopardize NHL’s future with another lockout. As the saying goes ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’ and it appears this might be the case once again as both sides strengthen their positions.
Overtime: Big market success should be determinative. Another interesting read by IC’s Richard Pollock on which teams should be driving the ship.
Sportsnet: United in dislike, NHL fans start boycott. At the end of the day, it is the fans who support the NHL and players at the gate. Unfortunately, aside from movements like these, which may or may not have any noticeable success, there is very little that fans can accomplish to have their plight heard by either side without being paid anything more than lip service.

Globe and Mail: Minnesota Wild star Dany Heatley sues ex-agent, others for $11 million. On one hand he gave someone he trusted his money but at the same time, you would think that there have been enough tales of woe for players in sports to ensure that players would check in and make sure that their financial affairs are in order. Anytime you are promised a deal that will make your investment back that quickly, it is likely too good to be true.
FS Arizona: Doan, Coyotes playing the waiting game. As the guys discussed on the show last week, is there a team in the NHL that Doan hasn’t been connected to? If the reported 28 million dollar is still on the table, he would be well advised to take it and run. This contract situation has become as painful as the Coyote’s ownership drama.
