Note: Still some Jets news filtering out despite the offseason being underway. Yesterday we learned that Axel Jonsson-Fjallby will become a Group 6 UFA on July 1st as he fell one game shy of the required games played for him to be retained as an RFA.

Note II: The Moose flew to Milwaukee on Tuesday where they practiced in the afternoon to prepare for tonight’s game 3 against the Admirals. The series is tied 1-1 so this will be a pivotal contest in their best of five series. Puck drop is at 7 PM CDT.

Note III: The Ice roll continues as they took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Blades courtesy of their 5-1 win last night in Saskatoon. Dman Ben Zloty had three assists in the victory and he leads the WHL in playoff assists with 19. They go for the series sweep tomorrow night.

Note IV: Brad Lambert and his Seattle Thunderbirds suffer their first loss of the playoffs as Blazers take game 3 in Kamloops by a score of 4-1 (two empty net goals). Crazy they went 10-0 before suffering a loss. Series now 2-1 in their favour. Game 4 is Thursday.

Note V: Over in the OHL the Petes defeated Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis and his North Bay Battalion with a 3-2 comeback win in game 3. Gives Peterborough a 2-1 series edge. Game 4 is tonight.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets’ Core 4 Dilemma: Cheveldayoff faces huge decisions. Wieber pulls out his crystal ball and figures out options for Hellebuyck, Scheifele, Dubois and Wheeler.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets must embrace difficult conversations this offseason. (Paywall). I am not of the opinion that they won’t be having these tough conversation but I just think they are not wanting to air that in the public domain.

Global News: Jets at a crossroads with no appetite for rebuild in Winnipeg. It is rather astonishing how quickly some words become buzzwords and then are associated with good/bad. That word in Manitoba is “rebuild”. Please read Paul’s latest article while listening to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony song ‘Crossroads’.

Daily Faceoff: Eight Burning Questions facing the NHL’s Eight Eliminated Round 1 teams. No surprise the big question Frank has for Winnipeg surrounds the future of netminder Connor Hellebuyck.

Jets audio:

Sportsnet: 32 Thoughts Podcast. With all the hubbub that surrounded the Winnipeg Jets inside Canada Life this past weekend it was the subject of conversation between Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman. The pair discussed the reactions and the future of the Jets. Friedman feels the organization needs to do a better job of being open with the fanbase.

CJOB 680: Jets @ Noon. Ken Wiebe joined Cam & Jim to talk about the priorities for the Jets this summer. Whether Connor Hellebuyck wants to be in Winnipeg long-term. The trade appetite of the organization. Conversation runs about 15 minutes and then more Jets talk follows.

Ice news:

Global News: Ice breeze past Blades, one win away from advancing to WHL final. It seemed like their toughest test would be their second round opponent (Moose Jaw) who played them so well during the regular season. Although it is worth noting that Saskatoon has been down in every series they’ve played these playoffs and found a way to win in game 7.

Saskatoon StarPhoenix: ‘Fight for another day, another road trip’: Blades face elimination, again, after a Tuesday loss. Check out the perspective on the game from someone who covers the Ice opponent.
