Note III: Did a quick little update on Jets prospects playing in the NCAA, WHL and OHL.

Note IV: The Moose played their regular season home finale last night as they looked to end their five-game slide. They started right, got the first goal which was record breaking by Leon Gawanke and kept it rolling getting the game-winning goal from Dominic Toninato and some insurance from Jansen Harkins. Goalie Arvid Holm was stellar in net and Manitoba picked up a big two points to reduce their magic number to clinch a playoff spot to three. They are off today.

Note V: The Ice are set to resume practice as they prepare for their second round series which will start on Tuesday although their opponent remains unknown.

Note VI: Join us this morning at 9 AM CDT on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show for two hours of mostly Jets talk. We will be joined by Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press and Craig Button of TSN.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets could learn what they’re made of with playoffs on the line vs. Predators. (Paywall). Time to test their mettle as the saying goes.

Winnipeg Sun: Goaltenders Hellebuyck and Saros likely to play huge roles in critical Jets-Predators showdown. We’ve seen some big goaltending battles but this one should be solid.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets control destiny in battle for playoffs against Predators. (Paywall). Holding the tiebreaker against both the Flames and Preds does help but this team really need to just keep putting two points in their standings bank.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hat-trick of Winnipeg hockey teams not likely to last. (Paywall). The pro clubs aren’t going anywhere and if the junior club could get a new rink it would go a long way to keeping them in the city.

ESPN: Josh Morrissey’s journey to stardom fueled by influence of his fatherWhile this story was literally written a year ago by locals, getting it to a national stage in the States helps broaden the knowledge of number 44. Even when he was at a Norris level this season, he wasn’t garnering much attention anywhere outside of Manitoba.

Jets video:

TSN: What do the Jets have to do to hold on to their playoff spotThere’s less than a week left in the regular season and the stakes couldn’t be much higher for the Jets and Flames. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SportsCentre to explain what Winnipeg has to do to hold on to its playoff spot.
