Note: The Jets could have had quite the weekend after coming back and winning on Saturday against the Predators but they followed that up with a tough 3-0 loss to the Blues yesterday in St. Louis. It was an opportunity to put some ground between themselves and the Flames and Predators. They are off today and back in action on Tuesday when they host the Coyotes in a one-off.

Note II: The Moose ended their seven-game road trip with two straight wins including a 4-3 shootout win over the Wolves on Sunday as they came back to defeat their rivals from Chicago. However the victory came with a cost as they lost second leading scorer (and 5th highest scorer amongst AHL defenceman) Declan Chisholm who slid into the boards in the 1st period and left the game. The team returns to Winnipeg today, have a day off tomorrow and are back in action on Wednesday to kick off eight straight in Manitoba with a game against the Icehogs.

Note III: In Winnipeg on Sunday the Ice defeated the Raiders 6-1 for the third straight game which improved them to 55-9-1-0 on the season. It was their seventh straight victory. They set a WHL record for wins in a 68-game season (as per the Ice game notes) with 55 (surpassing Prince Albert who set the mark in 2018-19). They are off today.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets miss chance to add cushion in playoff race but still control destiny. Wieber gives you his thoughts on a game the Jets could ill afford to lose with Nashville being pummeled by the Rangers and with the Flames heading to L.A. to face the Kings.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets fall flat in St. Louis, waste chance to increase lead on playoff pursuers. That was, with good reason, a big talking point on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show, as Winnipeg failed to create any further buffer between themselves and the Flames/Preds.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets singing the Blues. (Paywall). Jeff was in Missouri for the game and he filed this game report after the tough road loss for the Jets.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues shut out Jets for fourth win in last six games. Another team that were sellers at the deadline and appear to have caught some fire in a bottle. Read about last night’s contest from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic St. Louis: Joel Hofer proves he deserves to stay with Blues when Jordan Binnington’s suspension ends. (Paywall). While Jets fans were likely not feeling very magnanimous after the loss, the Winnipegger/Manitoban in them were maybe a little less unhappy that it was Winnipeg’s own Joel Hofer, in front of his parents, who denied their team the win.

TSN: The Jets’ top players are not delivering and that has to changeThe Jets rallied for a big victory over the Predators on Saturday but couldn’t complete the weekend sweep in St. Louis on Sunday. With just five wins in their last 17 games, what’s wrong with Winnipeg? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SportsCentre to share his thoughts.

TSN: The Jets limping along is giving the Flames and Predators hope. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss what went wrong for the Jets against the Blues on Sunday and where all the offence from Winnipeg’s top players has gone over the team’s rough stretch.
