Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets faced a tough Bruins team last night which saw them give up an early goal and they weren’t able to recover despite lots of good chances which ultimately saw them drop the decision 3-0 to the top team in the NHL. Today they are scheduled to practice before they head on the road for a pair of Central Division games starting with the Predators on Saturday.

Note II: The Moose are in Chicago where they will practice today ahead of a pair of games this weekend against the Wolves. Manitoba sits just two points back of 1st place so it will be critical to take advantage of a Wolves team that sits at the bottom of the division although they have been playing better of late.

Note III: The Ice will look to make team history tomorrow as they go for their 54th win of the season when they host the Raiders on Saturday.

Note IV: Rick Bowness delivered the news following morning skate on Thursday that veteran forward Sam Gagner had hip surgery and is done for the season.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets desperate for positive results after loss to Bruins: ‘We have to find a way’. The time for talk is so yesterday except it actually is more like ‘so last month’ because Winnipeg has squandered their buffer and have made this a much closer race than it needed to be.

Winnipeg Sun: Bruins hand Jets fourth home shutout of season. Hard to believe Winnipeg has been shut out that much at home given how much winning they’ve done at Canada Life.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets can’t solve Swayman. (Paywall). Give credit to the Boston netminder who was excellent when called upon to make a stop.

Global News: Jets fail to light lamp in 3-0 home loss to juggernaut Bruins. With the firepower this team possesses goal scoring wasn’t expected to be an issue they’d have to overcome.

The Sports Hub 98.5: Jeremy Swayman leads way in funk-snapping win over Jets. Ty is a great resource for all things Bruins. Check out his thoughts on the game.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets fail to find much-needed results in hard-fought loss to Bruins. Ken Wiebe and Sean Reynolds discuss the Winnipeg Jets entering ‘scoreboard-watching territory’ after another tough loss to the Boston Bruins, head coach Rick Bowness benching his team’s top line, and more.

TSN: Should Jets be concerned with playoff futureThe Jets have only four wins in their last 15 games, including their latest loss Thursday to Boston. Should Winnipeg be worried about their playoff future? TSN Hockey analyst Jamie McLennan shares his thoughts on that, and breaks down what wrong against the Bruins.

TSN: What do Jets need to do to hold off the surprise Predators in the race for the playoffsThe Jets are hanging on to the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and right behind them in the playoff race sits the Predators. How surprising is it to see Nashville still in the hunt? What does Winnipeg need to do to hold on to their spot? That’s Hockey discusses.
