Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets practiced in Florida on Friday where we learned that Pierre-Luc Dubois had been ruled out for both games in the Sunshine State. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 10:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Florida, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game. This season you’ll have a chance to win great schwag including authentic Jets jerseys, hats, etc after every single game (For a variety of ways to enter click here).

Note III: The Moose used Friday as a practice day in Iowa as they prepared to face division rival Wild this evening in Des Moines. Puck drop is at 6 PM.

Note IV: Another win for the Ice last night as they defeated the Oil Kings 5-4 in OT. They picked up their 51st win as they chase team history (looking to surpass win total from last season of 53). This is just the second time in team history (dating back to Edmonton/Kootenay) that they achieved 50 win plateau. Next up they face their provincial rival Wheat Kings to conclude their three-game homestand on Sunday.

Note V: Give Jets 2022 1st rounder Brad Lambert another goal with a cruise down Main Street in Seattle to score this beauty. It gave him 13G 17A for 30 points in 20 games for the Thunderbirds since being assigned.

Note VI: Join us this morning at 9 AM CST on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show for two hours of mostly Jets talk. We will be joined by Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press and Manitoba Moose play-by-play voice Daniel Fink.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Wheeler confident Jets’ improved play will soon translate to wins. The veteran forward isn’t about to throw in the towel.

Winnipeg Sun: Good in practice, Jets power play needs to get it going when it counts. The power hasn’t been in the power play as they have fallen to middle of the pack due to their relative inability to score with the man advantage. It has been too slow so we shall see if there is any extra zip in their passing.

Winnipeg Free Press: It’s time for struggling Jets to be accountable: Wheeler. (Paywall). From top to bottom this team needs to be better.

Winnipeg Free Press: Namestnikov comes as advertised. (Paywall). You can really get the sense that Rick Bowness is a fan of his twice former player on the Stars and Lightning.

Global News: Road trip may be what Jets need to get back on trackWe are certainly going to see what this team is made of given the Murderers’ Row of teams they will be facing over the coming days.

TSN: It’s make-or-break time for the Jets. The Jets lost for the seventh time in their last eight games on Wednesday as they continue to tumble down the Western Conference standings. Winnipeg reporter John Lu shares how the team is reacting to their slump and says the next stretch of games could be make-or-break for their season.
