Note: It was a busy Monday for the Jets which began with the team announcing Axel Jonsson-Fjällby had been reassigned ahead of practice. Newest Jet Nino Niederreiter joined his new teammates for an intense practice where it was revealed that Mason Appleton is “very doubtful” for tonight’s game while Pierre-Luc Dubois is considered a game-time decision after he left practice early with a nagging lower-body injury.

Note II: With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 10:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 7:00 PM CST.

Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and L.A., we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game. This season you’ll have a chance to win great schwag including authentic Jets jerseys, hats, etc after every single game (For a variety of ways to enter click here).

Note IV: The Moose were off on Monday after they swept their last two-game set with the Admirals although some players hit the ice as part of the team’s Backyard Rink initiative. Today they are scheduled to practice as they prepare to face the Wolves in Winnipeg to conclude eight straight at home.

Note V: The Ice won their 10th straight game on Sunday as they demolished the Oil Kings by a score of 8-1. These two squads have a re-match this morning in Edmonton this morning as the ten game road trip for Winnipeg continues.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Nino Niederreiter arrives in Winnipeg hoping to be the missing piece for Jets. Wieber gives you his assessment of the newest Jets who made his first appearance in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun: Nino Niederreiter provides much of what team has been missing. When you look at his propensity for possessing the puck and shooting it is exactly what this team needs, because too often guys have been choosing to pass rather than fire a puck on net. Doesn’t appear to be a problem for the newest Jet.

Winnipeg Sun: Bowness resumes candidness Monday after rare night off. The Jets bench boss had plenty to say on Monday.

Winnipeg Sun: Staggering Jets welcome Nino Niederreiter with open arms. The Jets need a jolt and it seems like 62 could be just what the doctor ordered.

Winnipeg Free Press: Bowness points fly from frustrated, fired-up Jets coach. (Paywall). I didn’t think he’d have a voice left for his media availability with the volume of his voice during the intense practice Winnipeg held on Monday.

The Athletic Winnipeg: How Nino Niederreiter can make an impact for struggling Jets. (Paywall). Murat with insight on how Niederreiter can help out his new hockey club.

Jets video:

TSN: A ‘cooled off’ Bowness calls for accountability as they hit some turbulenceAfter the Islanders shut out the Jets for their third straight loss and fifth in six games, Rick Bowness took a moral victory approach instead of calling out his team’s performance. On Monday he admitted that he needed to cool off overnight before even speaking to his team. John Lu has more from Winnipeg.

Jets audio:

Sportsnet: The Jeff Marek Show. Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet joined the show to chat about all things Winnipeg Jets which runs just under 15 minutes. Discussion began with the acquisition of Nino Niederreiter. Wieber drops a Nick Bjugstad/Jakob Chychrun thought. If the Jets might still be in on James van Riemsdyk? Then the talk returns to Nick Bjugstad. Theory as to why the trades are going from the west to the east? Might the Jets have interest in Colton Parayko?

Sportsnet: 32 Thoughts Podcast. It was a busy weekend for trades in the NHL. Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman spent quite a bit of time going around the NHL. They spoke about the Jets current tailspin, the acquisition of Nino Niederreiter, interest in Timo Meier. Friedman did say “he wouldn’t be surprised if this was it” but then went on to say he expects Kevin Cheveldayoff to look at the defence and then mentioned the Flames and if they fall out, whether Winnipeg looks at one of their guys with a year left on their deal.
