Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets are back home and ready to kick off six of their next seven games in Winnipeg. They get things started with the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche who are fast approaching from behind in the standings sitting just four back of the Jets with three games in hand. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 10:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 7:00 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Colorado, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game. This season you’ll have a chance to win great schwag including authentic Jets jerseys, hats, etc after every single game (For a variety of ways to enter click here).

Note III: The 3rd place Moose were in action last night in a clash with 2nd place Admirals and it was the home team who came out like they had been fired out of a rocket. They held a 2-0 lead (Bauer & Bongiovanni goals) after 20 minutes and were outshooting the visitors 14-2. That would continue to start the middle frame as they outshot them 10-2 and managed to add another goal to make it a 3-0 hockey game courtesy of another goal by Wyatt Bongiovanni. They held on for a 3-2 win over the Admirals. They are scheduled to practice this morning.

Note IV: The Ice take their eight-game win streak to Red Deer tonight where they will take on the Rebels. Puck drop is at 8 PM CST.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets not giving Chevy reason to go for it. Amazing how easily they could have flipped the narrative had they picked up a win over the Islanders on Wednesday but instead the world is falling and it has some folks wondering if this team is more 2018-19 than 2017-18.

Winnipeg Free Press: Struggling Jets still among best in weak Central Division. (Paywall). As I said on twitter the other night, Jets fans can take some solace in the fact that as bad as it has been for Winnipeg of late the folks in Dallas are dealing with a worse run.

Sportsnet: What Jets and other suitors would move for Timo Meier. Provided it comes with an extension if you’re the Jets you are making that deal.

Sportsnet: What past trade deadlines tell us about how Jets GM Cheveldayoff may act. Is this 2017-18? It is starting to look more 2018-19 around these parts. The next seven days in the NHL and specifically here in Manitoba are going to be fascinating.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets observations: Perfetti’s injury, Bowness’ tinkering, Helleybuck’s workload, more. (Paywall). Murat gives you a week’s worth of his observations.

Jets video:

Global News: An update with John Shannon on the Jets. In his weekly chat with Global, John Shannon touched on the Jets bottom six, Nikolaj Ehlers ice time and Mark Scheifele’s goal scoring.

Jets audio:

Sportsnet: Discussing the Winnipeg Jets and plan B options. Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discuss the Winnipeg Jets the day after the loss to the Islanders.
