Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets, Moose & Ice news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets practiced in Winnipeg on Wednesday before they took off for their four-game road trip. The good news for the club is that Connor Hellebuyck was feeling well enough to travel although Jets assistant coach Brad Lauer isn’t as he deals with back issues which means they are pressing Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois into service. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 10:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 6:00 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Columbus, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game. This season you’ll have a chance to win great schwag including authentic Jets jerseys, hats, etc after every single game (For a variety of ways to enter click here).

Note III: The Moose kicked off an eight-game homestand with a 4-2 win against the Wild last night. It was a memorable debut for Axel Jonsson-Fjällby who scored the game-winning goal, as part of a three goals (other two goals scored by Jansen Harkins) in three minute middle frame outburst by the home team. With the victory they improve to 25-16-3-2 and sit third in the Central Division. They are off today.

Note IV: The Ice concluded their homestand last night with a 5-3 win over the Broncos which clinched a playoff spot for them. They will now head out on the road for ten straight games.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets goalie David Rittich keeping things light as season ramps up. He is certainty a character even as compared to other goalies. It was quite evident from his opening media availability that he’s be a different sort of player to chat with.

Winnipeg Free Press: Eastern swing a true test for Jets. (Paywall). To date Winnipeg has gone 10-11-0 vs opponents from the Eastern Conference which is quite the contrast to their 24-8-1 record at home in the Western Conference.

Global News: Jets fans can make home games difficult for visiting teams againThe Jets have certainly shown that Canada Life is an inhospitable place to play. While the building doesn’t have the same feel as when the team first came back or when they went on their long playoff run, it does feel a bit more giddy as Manitobans realize this team isn’t a mirage.

Jets video:

Global News: Update on the Winnipeg Jets with John Shannon. They began by taking a look at the two-game homestand. Whether the Jets will pursue Timo Meier before the trade deadline? Who is the winner of the Dubois/Laine trade two years later? 680 CJOB hockey analyst John Shannon joins Global News to give his weekly takes on the Jets.
