Note: The Jets got carved up like a turkey which is appropriate given U.S. Thanksgiving is today which, despite the 6-1 pummeling, Winnipeg suffered last night, means at 11-6-1 they are in a playoff spot on this critical date on the hockey calendar. The team is off today and will look to regroup tomorrow in Dallas against the Stars.

Note II: The Moose were travelling on Wednesday from Wisconsin to Michigan as they conclude their five-game road trip with a pair of games against the Griffins in Grand Rapids. Today they will practice in Van Andel Arena.

Note III: The Ice got back to their winning ways with a 3-2 victory over the Hurricanes. They are now 21-2-0-0 on the season as they closed out the 10-game homestand (9-1-0-0). They head to Saskatoon to take on the Blades this weekend.

Note IV: There was an update on Nikolaj Ehlers broken first by Sean Reynolds of Sportsnet and later confirmed by Jets head coach Rick Bowness who estimated the recovery time for the Dynamic Dane at eight weeks.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Bowness shows he has Hellebuyck’s back in game where nothing went right for Jets. In a game where he allowed six goals you’d think that headline doesn’t read quite right but Wieber explains why it is appropriate.

Winnipeg Sun: Wild dines on Jets at Xcel Energy Center. Forget about that game can we talk about those Wild uniforms? Those are the nicest reverse retros in my opinion. If you wanna read about the game (which makes you a masochist) check out Scott’s recap.

Winnipeg Sun: NHL frustrations not getting Jets’ Ville Heinola down. His waiver eligibility works against him as does the reality that there are elements to his game that he needed to work on in the AHL. Of course the decision by the organization to block the path for years with veteran D like Anthony Bitetto or Derek Forbort didn’t help.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets made to look like turkeys in Minnesota. (Paywall). If you didn’t get enough last night Mike is dishing out a healthy dose of leftovers in his game recap.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wild end eventful day with 6-1 blitzing of Jets. Check out a recap of the action from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

Global News: Too many injuries could alter Jets’ directionIt really depends. If it is one of the bigger name players then yes that could derail things for Winnipeg. There have been players like veteran forward Sam Gagner who has been moved up. But there are also plenty of role players currently with the Moose (F: Malott, Stenlund, Reichel. D: Chisholm, Gawanke) that could be ready for an opportunity if it presented itself without the organizational need to look elsewhere.

The Athletic Winnipeg: From the Sambergs and the Pionks to Hermantown with love. (Paywall). As with all things Murat does he paints a fulsome picture of life in Hermantown and what it meant for two of the Jets players (and their families) to grow up there.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Which Canadian team is best in the NHL through first quarter of the season? The Hockey Central panel discusses which Canadian team has been the best through the first quarter of the NHL season.
