Note: I’m off to Lake of the Woods for a few days but fear not as the rest of the IC Team will be picking up the slack. Enjoy the remainder of the Jets Development Camp and stay tuned to @illegalcurve as always for all the latest news.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Klingberg’s a cool customer. No question that Klingberg is a character. You could see that the young Swede had a ton of personality in the few games he played in Winnipeg last season. Can he make the jump to the NHL this season?
Winnipeg Free Press: Departing Stapleton will cheer for Jets from afar. It was pretty clear in Stapleton’s tweet yesterday that he didn’t want to leave the Peg’, although he probably should have used a Jake Jarmel explanation point, as opposed to a question mark.
Winnipeg Sun: Sutter born competitive. Sometimes your last name can be a boon or a curse. Sutter is trying to be his own person and not worry about the name on the back of his jersey. While that is easier said than done, he has shown some good poise through the first 3 days of camp.
Winnipeg Sun: Cooking lesson part of recipe for success. All part of the team building process. Some of these relationships that are formed today, will endure for years to come.
Winnipeg Sun: Meanness key for Jets’ blue-liner. Sol is the biggest guy in camp and will be looking to make his mark in the pro ranks next season.
Illegal Curve: Day 3 Audio from Development Camp. Coach Noel, Mark Scheifele, Jacob Trouba and Peter Stoykowich.
NHL news:
Arizona Republic: Glendale rejects group’s attempt to overturn sales-tax increase. Sweet, sweet technicalities. Fact of the matter is that if you have to submit a document, you had best have it properly filled out and filed if you hope to push forward with your agenda.
FS North: Wild have gained attention throughout NHL. You can feel the excitement for next season in Minnesota. As someone tweeted…Winter is Coming! (HBO Game of Thrones reference for those scratching their heads).
?CSN Washington: Son of Iafrate admits he’s out there, too. If he has a shot like his dad’s perhaps a team or two will give him a shot. Perhaps a bit more seasoning will help him develop the necessary skills to make it as a pro.
Toronto Sun: Doan pushes back contract deadline. Much like the Coyote situation in Glendale, Doan just can’t get things done in the time allotted.
Globe and Mail: Modano, Lamoriello and Olczyk headline U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame class. Three deserving guys who have well represented USA Hockey.
