Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest Jets and Moose news, video and audio.

Note: The Jets needed to start the road trip off on the right skate and that is just what they did going into Newark and coming out of New Jersey with two points after they defeated the Devils 2-1 thanks in large part to goalie Eric Comrie who made 33 saves to improve to 7-2-1 on the season with a sterling .920 save %. No rest for Winnipeg as they will be on Long Island to play at UBS Arena for the first time ever when they do battle with the Islanders this evening. No morning skate but stay tuned for the pre-game report to get the full 411 ahead of the game. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CT and following the final buzzer we want you to join the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.

Note II: After a long week of practice the Moose finally get loose when they kick off the final home series of this nine-game homestand tonight against the Senators. Manitoba has won three straight games coming into the game. Puck drop is at 7 pm. If you’d like to go to the game we’ve got four FREE tickets to giveaway in section 118 so if you want to check out some Jets prospects and a solid Manitoba club be sure to send me a message.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets goalie Comrie shows up another former team with win over Devils. He played one game with New Jersey last season but he spoke very highly of the experience and spoke last season and again last night about the impact it had on him as a goalie. He looked very confident in the net which continues to show why the organization had faith in him as a backup to Connor Hellebuyck.

Winnipeg Free Press: Connor, Comrie help Jets down Devils 2-1. (Paywall). That goal scored by Kyle Connor was simply filthy and as I said above Comrie has turned into a successful backup netminder at the NHL level. Mike was inside the Prudential Center and filed this game report.

Global News: Comrie stellar in rare start as Jets open road trip with 2-1 win in New Jersey. Have to think he will be getting a few more starts to help the team get points and also to lighten the load for the Jets number one netminder.

New Jersey Herald: Devils’ strong effort falls short to Jets on night they honor Travis Zajac. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic Winnipeg: What we’re hearing about the Jets as the trade deadline approaches. (Paywall). Notable from Murat although not terribly surprise that Copp doesn’t see Jets in his off-season plansLots of good tidbits in this piece.
