Note: The Jets choose to make Wednesday a straight travel day although the team did announce the recall of Ville Heinola from the AHL which coincided with them putting Nate Beaulieu on LTIR, which they needed to do in order to have cap space to add Heinola as the seventh D man. Morning skate is at 10:30 AM CT so check out the pre-game report to get the full 411 ahead of the game. Puck drop which is at 6 PM CT and following the final buzzer we want you to join the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.
Note II: The final day of practice is finally here for the Moose as they will face the Senators tomorrow night here in Winnipeg in the eighth game of this nine-game homestand. With Heinola recalled it will be an opportunity for 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark to get into some games.
Jets news:
The Athletic Winnipeg: What we’re hearing about the Jets as the trade deadline approaches. (Paywall). Notable from Murat although not terribly surprise that Copp doesn’t see Jets in his off-season plans. Lots of good tidbits in this piece.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets Gamenight vs New Jersey. Paul provides some insight ahead of puck drop including three things to know about the opponent for Winnipeg.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets Snapshots. Paul covers a number of topics in his snapshots column including: 1) Patience a virtue for Jets’ Ville Heinola. 2) Mum’s the word for Russian players. 3) Lowry at least has special teams clicking.
Winnipeg Free Press: Time running out on Jets. (Paywall). With the trade deadline fast approaching the team is certainly running out of runway. While trades won’t necessarily doom them from trying to catch up it would certainly be all the more difficult if guys like Stastny and Copp are dealt.
The Hockey News: Jets could become sellers as playoff hopes fade. The body is still warm but the vultures are circling overhead. I could have also used a Monty Python “I’m not yet dead” meme.
Global News: Connor adds layers to his game as he leads Jets in more than just scoring. The season he is having has been remarkable. He made one of the best goalies in the NHL look ordinary on the goal he scored last night and adding penalty killing to his repertoire seems to have been a real boost for him.
