Note: The Jets picked up a critical two points last night in Nashville as they defeated the Predators with a five goal comeback which saw Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler put up two goals and three assists. They are still seven points back of the second wild card spot (currently held by the Ducks) although they do have four games in hand. The team is off today.

Note II: The Moose suffered their third loss of their four-game road trip including a sweep this weekend by the Canucks in Abbotsford. They are off today and will be travelling back to Winnipeg today where they will try to get back on track. They will play eight straight in Manitoba starting with Milwaukee on the 20th.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Five-point night gives Wheeler, Jets reason to smile. If that was the game that gets the big dogs howling then that could be the TSN turning point for the Jets this season. The challenge will be to bring that element forward on a consistent basis.

Winnipeg Sun: Captain comes through in clutch in Jets win over Preds. It was an impressive game by the captain as he had two goals and three assists in the win which included his 34th career game-winning goal. It was clear when he scored you could see the relief in his celebration.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets captain ties team record with five-point effort in victory over Predators. (Paywall). It was quite a tale of two games with Nashville looking dominate for the first 10 minutes and then Winnipeg took control from about the midpoint of the opening period until the final buzzer. Mike recaps the game from his spot inside Bridgestone.

Tennessean: Penalties cost Nashville Predators again in loss against Winnipeg Jets. They are the most penalized team in the NHL averaging almost five minutes per game and it hurt them big time on Saturday with the Jets scoring three times with the man advantage and once at four-on-four. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer who covers the Jets opponent.

theScore: Borowiecki ejected for elbowing Jets’ Svechnikov in face. It was a pretty bad play and it cost his team in a big way last night.
