Note: The Jets concluded the 2021 56-game regular season with a 4-2 win over the Leafs to finish the year with a 30-23-3 record on the season. Last night’s game was really supposed to be all about getting through it healthy although the game resulted in two questions marks after both Paul Stastny and Pierre-Luc Dubois didn’t finish the game for Winnipeg although head coach Paul Maurice did say post-game that he expects “…they will be in the opening night lineup”. The Jets schedule for today wasn’t out last night but seems likely it will be an off day for them.

Note II: Manitoba got up in the game courtesy of Jeff Malott scoring his AHL leading (for rookies) 14th goal which tied him with three other first-year pros. Haralds Egle showed why you don’t stop until you hear that whistle as he tied the game courtesy of his fourth goal of the season in the 3rd and would eventually see the teams need extra time.  Just 18 seconds into the sudden death period the home side won it but it kept the Moose points streak alive at 13 games.  A re-match will be played tonight at 6 PM.

Note III: Be sure to join us on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show today as we will be chatting all about the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose this morning starting at 9:00 a.m. CDT. Winnipeg Free Press: Jets finish regular season with 4-2 victory over Toronto. (Paywall). Jeff examines last night’s game and provides with his latest thoughts about the local NHL club.

Winnipeg Free Press: Sorry Jets fans it’s McDavid in 5. (Paywall). Blame this one on us as last time we had Mike on our show we asked him to toss on his prognosticator hear.

Toronto Star: Playoffs next stop for the Maple Leafs after road loss to the Jets. Check out this recap from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

Toronto Sun: Leafs lose regular-season finale to Jets; Canadiens next up in first round. Much like the Jets their opponent is already onto the next series although unlike Winnipeg, Toronto didn’t end the game with any injuries.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets say high-stakes hockey will bring out their playoff best, but can they will themselves out of a slump? (Paywall).  It is certainly going to be a tall task as Murat lays out in his latest piece.

TSN: Jets searching for a way to slow down McDavidAnd I’m sure if they figure out a blueprint the rest of the league would pay them for that knowledge. McDavid is gonna do damage but it is pretty much trying to keep it to a minimum as opposed to the idea of eliminating him as a threat.  Although as Travis shows there are some players on the Jets who have been able to not get demolished against 97.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets offence coming back to life as regular season wraps up. Sean Reynolds and Ken Wiebe broke down how the Winnipeg Jets were able to break out of an offensive slump and end the regular season with a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

TSN: Scoring nine goals in two wins heading into playoffs is big for Jets’ confidence. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button explains why not just winning, but the way in which the Jets won their final two regular season games will give them a lot more confidence heading into the postseason. Button also touched on how important Connor Hellebuyck will be for Winnipeg to have success in the playoffs.

TSN: Jets pick up ‘feel good’ win to close out regular season. The TSN Hockey panel shared their thoughts on the regular season finale between the Maple Leafs and Jets, and discussed the likelihood of Pierre Engvall being in Toronto’s lineup in the playoffs, as well as if Winnipeg’s last two wins will help them move past the rough stretch the team has been on.

TSN Toronto 1050:  Sawyer previews the Oilers-Jets first-round seriesFormer NHLer and TSN Jets analyst Kevin Sawyer joins Andi and Craig to look ahead to the Oilers and Jets first round series and how the Jets find a way to contain Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
