Stanley Cup news:
Star-Ledger: Devils believe Stanley Cup finals are far from over. These Devils have certainly not taken the easy route to get to the Finals and they have not made it any easier heading to L.A. down 2 games. If any teams has shown they can persevere it is New Jersey, but they will need more than a split to give themselves a fighting chance to win the Cup.
Star-Ledger: Are Devils at a disadvantage against much-traveled Kings? We are about to find out if that was a pro or con.
L.A. Times: Kings hope to share something more than office space with Lakers. There is still no question as to which Los Angeles based team captures the hearts and minds of most people in California, however if there is something most people in Tinseltown love, it is a winner. The Kings can go a long way towards gaining some much needed attention with 2 more wins.
L.A. Times: Kings suddenly are in the buzz biz. As I said above, this team has still not been widely embraced. However they can cement themselves a lot of news fans if they pull off this series victory. Would also be nice to reward the diehards who have been waiting since 1967 for a trophy.
L.A Times: For Kings fans, what makes sense is the sense of place. I always credited myself for driving 1.5 hours to see Red Wings games, but that pales in comparison to an 8 hour treck to get to the Staples Center.
Winnipeg Free Press: Former hot-head now hot property. The Manitoba product is showing he can keep his cool as his management decisions have helped guide this team into contender status.
General NHL news:
Globe and Mail: Glendale opens valve on sewer and water accounts to fund Coyotes. The NHL has to be ‘happy’ that this drama remains ongoing.
Boston Herald: Thomas makes big stop. Taking to Facebook, Tim Thomas tells fans that he will indeed be taking next season off.
