Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets were off on Sunday following their 5-0 win on Saturday night in Montreal to sweep their two-game series with the Habs. Today they are in Ottawa to kick off two straight games against the Senators as part of their five-game road trip. Check back for the pre-game report following skate at the Canadian Tire Centre for updates as well as for the media availability with players and coach Paul Maurice. Puck drop is at 6 PM CDT. Winnipeg Sun: Brutal honesty, trade deadlines.  In his latest Bits by Billeck article Scott looks back to last year’s trade deadline and ahead to this one.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets’ second power-play unit making strong case for PP1 status. A little healthy internal competition between the two squads have helped the Jets become a top 5 (4th to be precise) PP team in the NHL. 

Winnipeg Free Press:  Big addition improbable, but team could use a little body putty. (Paywall). I think the most action today may be at the waiver wire for the Jets. Perhaps Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff goes off the board like he did with Stastny.

Sportsnet: Jets trade deadline preview: How big is Cheveldayoff willing to go? Guess we are about to find out. Ken gets you set up with seven or so hours until the deadline.

TSN: Cheveldayoff not concerned with ‘keeping up’ when considering possible trades. Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff spoke about what it’s like for him when he sees deals getting done ahead of the deadline and insists that it doesn’t change his approach. Cheveldayoff also spoke to James Duthie about the likelihood he makes a move Monday.
