Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: GM Chevy looks for right guy. It is quite clear what area the Jets need help with, but will that blue chip forward prospect still be around when the Jets step up to the podium is anyone’s guess.
Winnipeg Free Press: Lack of weird questions puzzles prospects. Most important questions Chevy and Company asked might not have been to any scouts but instead to the agents of the crop of free agents the Jets are looking to sign.
Winnipeg Sun: Will Jets consider moving Enstrom? Lots of speculation which makes the offseason so much fun. Coincidental that the Red Wings lost their #1 Swedish defenceman yesterday?
Winnipeg Sun: Jets toss trio back into draft. The Jets don’t have a tremendous depth in prospect goalies but assuming they sign Pavelec to a long term deal, that might not be a major concern.
Illegal Curve: Thursday Morning Papers. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the official announcement of the return of the NHL to Winnipeg. There was a ton of news so if you missed any, we have you covered.
Stanley Cup news:
L.A. Times: Coach Darryl Sutter keeps the Kings humble and hungry. No point in changing the message that the team has been conveying for quite some time. With just 3 more games to win the Stanley Cup you can bet this team will keep the Sutter mantra in their heads.
L.A. Times: Justin Williams is so effective yet so little noticed. He brings Stanley Cup winning experience to this team and that knowledge of what it takes to win is clearly being learned by his King team mates.
Star-Ledger: Devils find themselves down a game once again, will make adjustments for Game 2 of Stanley Cup Finals. It is being called the most important game of the 2012 playoffs for the Devils. Going down 2-0 to the Kings and heading back to L.A. does not seem like a good option if you are planning on winning the Stanley Cup.
General NHL news:
Globe and Mail: Flames fast-track hiring of Hartley. Hiring a friend doesn’t always work out so well. This hiring might be the last chance for Calgary to accomplish something with their veteran lineup.
TSN: Igor Larionov says Nail Yakupov a ‘perfect candidate’ for Oilers. Will Edmonton choose to take another young forward or will they flip the pick for some much needed defence? Three weeks until we know that answer.
