Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: The Jets held a very optional practice on Friday as they reset for tonight’s final game of this three-game series against the Leafs. They will get going this morning at 10:30 AM CST for morning skate so stay tuned for the pre-game report.  Puck drop is at 6 PM.

Note II:  The Moose will also conclude their four-game series this afternoon against Stockton over at the IcePlex as they will look to stop the red-hot Heat who have won eight-straight games. Puck drop is at 2 PM CST.

The Athletic Winnipeg: As trade rumours swirl, the Jets’ need for defensive help has been exposed in their series against the Leafs. (Paywall). Seems like Ekholm would be a pretty, pretty, pretty solid addition.

Winnipeg Sun: Maurice, staff navigating more uncharted waters amid long road trip.  With a unique season it is forcing teams to change up their usual approaches.  Important to ensure your players are getting opportunity to rest/recover during such a condensed schedule.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets trying to find balance as high-danger shots pile up.  Lots of talk about high-danger chances from the series. 

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets can’t get caught in the slot. (Paywall).  A team like the Leafs is surely gonna make you pay if you give them grade A chances.

The Athletic: Trade fits these 6 contenders should explore ahead of NHL deadline. (Paywall). Two of these involve Mattias Ekholm. One going to the Bruins and other to Jets. Unrelated to this article but on the topic of trade speculation it is probably also worth noting that there were reports on twitter that the Jets had folks (including AGM Larry Simmons) in attendance at Thursday night’s Blue Jackets/Panthers games.
