Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets held a practice on Friday which briefly saw Pierre-Luc Dubois be a part of it before he left.  Coach Paul Maurice indicated that something tightened up but he thought he was “probable” for today’s afternoon contest against Ottawa.  No morning skate which mean we will have to wait for warm up to see what the lineup will look like.  Puck drop is at 2 PM.

Note II:  The Moose got two big additions on Friday as the Jets announced they had reassigned Dylan Samberg and Ville Heinola from the taxi squad to their AHL affiliate.  This certainly gives Manitoba an embarrassment of prospect riches on the blueline.  Check out yesterday’s Practice Report.  They are back on the ice today as they get ready for Monday’s season/home opener against the Marlies.

Note III:  As we have done every Saturday for the last 12 years we will welcome you to Illegal Curve Hockey Show but for the first time in over a decade it will not be on TSN 1290 Winnipeg as the station was dealt a death blow by Bell Media during the week. Winnipeg Sun: Snapshots. Paul’s column covers: 1) Canadian division remains virtually COVID-free, and it’s probably no fluke. 2) Coaches exchanging best wishes, barbs. 3) Jets blue line still in flux, as young stars Heinola, Samberg, head to farm.

Ottawa Sun:  Snapshots.  His article covers: 1) Paquette’s not in Florida anymore. 2) A look ahead. 3) Dubois watch. 4) A dose of perspective.

Ottawa Sun:  Hogberg hungry to rediscover his game as he takes Senators’ net from injured Matt Murray.  Something tells me he is going to get his chance today when he faces the Jets later today.

ESPN:  Jets prospect Cole Perfetti’s 34 days of isolation: ‘I’m like a quarantine professional now’.  What a relief it is going to be for these guys once they can get some normality back in their lives with actual hockey to play on Monday.  The Jets prospect has certainly gotten his fill of isolation the last few months.
