Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Jets were looking to end their four-game mini series with the Flames last night on a high note but a late penalty and power play goal by Calgary sunk those hopes.  The Jets will travel back to Winnipeg today.

Note II:  While the rest of the AHL teams down south have been playing regular season games the Moose and the four other teams in the All Canadian division continued to wait for a schedule from the league.  On Monday afternoon the AHL finally released the February schedule which includes eight games for Manitoba.

Note III: As you may have heard the radio landscape in Winnipeg changed on Monday morning with the news that Bell cut TSN 1290 from their portfolio.  With that news we bring you some information about the status of the Illegal Curve Hockey Show.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Pierre-Luc Dubois’ Jets debut: Clips, quotes and first impressions. (Paywall). Murat dissects the first showing of the Jets big acquisition from the Laine trade. 

Winnipeg Sun:  Despite close score, new-look Jets need adjustments after getting badly outplayed by Flames.  When the high-danger chances are that heavily weighted in one team’s favour that ain’t good for business. 

Sportsnet: Dubois does his part against Flames in long-awaited Jets debut. He didn’t have an explosive three goal performance but it’s pretty clear that once he gets all aspects of his game going he can be a difference maker for the Jets.

NHL.com: Dubois ‘can play a lot better than’ debut with Jets.  The Jets coaching staff dipped his toe in the pool but you can expect him to get tossed into the deep end on Thursday against the Senators.

Winnipeg Sun: Flames get late power-play goal to beat Jets in debut for Dubois.  The good news for the Jets is that Nikolaj Ehlers continues to produce.
