Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: The Jets concluded their seven-game homestand last night with a 4-1 win over the Flames which saw them go 4-2-1 in the ‘Peg with an overall record of 7-3-1 on the season which puts them in third place in the North Division. The team has the next two days off.

Note II:  Today the AHL kicks off their regular season however the Moose continue with training camp out at the IcePlex as they wait for their regular season schedule.

Note III:  With the team off they made some transactions today reassigning David Gustafsson to the taxi squad and sending Cole Perfetti to the Moose followed by Kristian Vesalainen also being reassigned to the taxi squad.  There was also news that Dominic Toninato was placed on waivers.

Sportsnet:  Pierre-Luc Dubois draws on past experience ahead of Jets debut.  Really informative article here from Ken on the newest addition to the Jets team. 

Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck’s ‘inner-drive, inner-belief’ carried him to the top of Jets’ record books.  Having watched him since his time with the Moose it doesn’t really surprise me that his internal drive has propelled him to this spot in his career.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets off to strong start and should only get better with addition of Dubois.  Considering they’ve managed to more than tread water since game 2 when they’ve been without Patrik Laine the addition of Pierre-Luc Dubois can only be a big boost to the third place in the North Jets.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets dominate in all phases in tidy win over Flames. Back to back games with regulation wins was a big thing for the local NHL club to do in order to push ahead of a team like Calgary who they could find themselves battling for a playoff spot late in the season.  Ted recaps the action.

TSN: ‘I won’t be able to sleep the night before’: Dubois excited to join Jets. Pierre-Luc Dubois remains in quarantine since being traded to Winnipeg. Dubois joined TSN’s Sara Orlesky over a video call and admitted that he can’t wait to join the Jets in practice, and has been watching videos on social media to get an idea for what he is in for.

TSN: Hellebuyck’s calmness in net sparked Jets.  Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves en-route to his 153rd win with the Jets, putting him as the franchise leader in that category. Craig Button has more on how Hellebuyck’s calmness between the pipes helped guide Winnipeg past the Flames.
