Note: The Jets will conclude their seven-game homestand tonight against the Flames which will be the first time they wear their retro jerseys this season. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM. Stay tuned for the pre-game report in advance of the 7 pm puck drop.

Note II:  The Moose training camp roster got up to 27 on Wednesday with the addition of prospect defenceman Leon Gawanke.  They’ve got another day of camp scheduled this afternoon out at the IcePlex.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Blake Wheeler’s play so far in 2020-21 is cause for concern — but not condemnation. (Paywall). You’d think it was July right now in Winnipeg with how hot the temperature is in this town. Murat looks at the issue which had tongues wagging across the prairies and beyond.

Winnipeg Sun: Friesen on Jets captain Wheeler: Don’t put the horsebleep before the cartPaul asked the question which kicked off the “controversy” and he wrote about the topic that certainly seemed to grip the Canadian hockey community on Wednesday.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Rivalry kept in check so far. (Paywall).  Aside from Matthew Tkachuk stirring it up there really isn’t a lot of old school hate that you see in playoffs and that’s likely a result of a lack of fans and also how critical it is to get two points each night.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Maurice can’t understand criticism, while Wheeler focuses on wins. (Paywall).  No surprise that a players coach like Paul Maurice went on the attack to defend his captain.

Winnipeg Free Press:  NHL wrong to let Columbus get head start in trade. (Paywall).  There is definitely an imbalance when one team can wait two days and the other has to wait 14.  Mike has more thoughts on this in his latest column.

Sportsnet:  Jets’ Paul Maurice ‘offended’ by criticism towards Blake WheelerWinnipeg’s bench boss didn’t mince words in today’s media availability which you can watch in full here.

Sportsnet: 10 early Winnipeg Jets observationsAfter ten games Ken provides you with 10 things he’s noticed from the Jets including: 1) Ehlers is electric. 2) Hellebuyck showing flashes. 3) Copp’s coming-out party. 4) Lowry leans in. 5) Powerful stuff. 6) What’s up with Wheeler? 7) Forbort fits like a glove. 8) Brossoit battles back. 9) Defence still a work in progress. 10) PK putting slow start in rearview mirror.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  Pierre-Luc Dubois film study: What we learned watching every shift from 15 games of the newest Jet. (Paywall).  Murat put some time and energy into this article all about the newest Jets forward.  Well worth reading to gain some insight into the type of player the Jets acquired.

Jets video:

MooseTV: Roundtable discussion avec Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois & Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois. MooseTV’s Austin Siragusa sat down with assistant coach Eric Dubois and Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois to talk growing up around the rink, who’s winning a 1-on-1 and much more.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Appleton has elevated his play. TSN Jets play-by-play voice Dennis Beyak joined Andrew “Hustler” Paterson and Rick Ralph on the Afternoon Ride. They discussed the two Jets/Flames games this week, Mason Appleton’s performance early on, Adam Lowry’s two way game and how Paul Maurice stood up for Blake Wheeler today.
