Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  Jets made some news on Monday morning hiring Dave Lowry as an assistant coach.  The father of long-time Jets centre Adam Lowry then spoke later that afternoon which you can watch/listen to here.

Note III:  Two years ago today was a historic night for Patrik Laine on Hockey Night in Canada as he ripped home five goals against the Blues. He was the first Jets player since Alexi Zhamnov in 1995 to accomplish that feat.  Also made Christopher Haley a millionaire via Score & Win contest.

Jets news:

Duluth News:  Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg involved in a car accident.  While the news is good for Samberg as he told the Duluth News he was ‘ok’ the article indicates it was a pretty serious crash.  

The Province: Benning knows former teammate Lowry good fit as Jets assistant coach. An interesting read on the newest hire by Winnipeg with insight from his former teammate and current Canucks GM.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets add some ‘pop’ to the lineup. (Paywall). Mike recaps the chat with the newest face around Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun:  ‘I look at it that we’re both professionals:’ New Jets’ assistant Dave Lowry ready to coach his own son in NHL.  A father/son dynamic in the workplace should prove interesting but clearly both the coach and the player feel confident that it will not impact their relationship either personally or now professionally.

Sportsnet:  Dave Lowry, with son Adam’s blessing, excited for role on Jets staff.  If they do a mom’s trip again it will make it quite the family affair for the Lowry’s.  Ken wrote about yesterday’s big news.
