Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets need to tinker, not trade stars. That headline makes me think of that Simpsons line “we are gonna tinker with your ticker”. Well Jets fans might need a new heart if they think guys like Ehlers or Laine are being dealt. Scott with an insightful and logical article on why the Jets need to keep those types of players (unless the return is a King’s ransom) and look to other places to find a solution.
The Athletic: 2020 NHL organizational rankings: No. 16 Winnipeg Jets. (Paywall). Jets have bumped up 11 spots in Pronman’s rankings.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets should hold onto Laine, explore other trade options in quest to add centre and top-pairing defenceman. Ted reacts to the rumour du jour courtesy of the TSN trade bait board.
TSN: Trade Bait: Finnish sniper Laine on the board. Hockey is a business and almost no player is untouchable but I suspect unless you are walking away with a King’s ransom you ain’t trading either Laine (#5) or Ehlers (#12).
Sportsnet: Why Jets should look for internal solution to second-line centre hole. Ken sees the solution to the 2nd line centre conundrum with a permanent move of the captain to the middle.
Jets video:
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman joined Hockey Central to talk about the Winnipeg Jets Patrik Laine. With the TSN Trade Bait board coming out on Monday lots of tongues wagging about the Jets sniper.
Jets prospect news:
Illegal Curve: D prospect Leon Gawanke loaned to the Eisbären Polar Bears of the DEL for the start of the 2020-21 season. The Berlin born defenceman will realize a childhood dream when he pulls on the uniform for the team he grew up cheering for. It will also be a good opportunity for him to continue the positive development he began in his rookie season.
