Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  Today is the last day of the Jets player break.  While the team enjoys some R&R they did announce on Tuesday that they have recalled Jansen Harkins who was at the AHL All-Star game representing the Moose.

Note II:  The Moose are also on the last day of their All-Star break.  With Harkins recalled yesterday the Jets reassigned Cam Schilling back to their AHL squad as he was up simply to maintain CBA roster compliance.

Note III:  While the two hockey clubs are taking time off their parent organization sent out an email to season ticket holders indicating some changes coming for next season.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg:  5 defencemen for Winnipeg to target as deadline approaches.  (Paywall).  Ken is back from vacay and with trade deadline under a month away he hits you with five possible players the Jets could target.  Of course depending on where the Jets are in the standings will go a long way in making that determination.

Winnipeg Sun:  With the trade deadline approaching, the Jets should be focusing on the future.  Looks like my mom and Scott’s mom know the same expressions.

Sportsnet: 31 Thoughts.  Friedman spoke with Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck and writes about it in points 21 and 22.

Winnipeg Free Press:  True North vows to cut food costs, limit ticket-price increases and improve in-game promotions.  (Paywall).  A welcome change say most fans that I’ve been hearing from since this news first broke.

The Athletic Winnipeg: What the Jets could reasonably expect to receive if they decide to trade Dustin Byfuglien.  (Paywall).  Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff not in an enviable position right now.  Murat looks at possible scenarios and talks to other Athletic reporters in other cities to see what the market could look like.

TSN:  There are plenty of reasons for concern in Winnipeg.  Read that and you can only be left saying “dear mama”.  But also not terribly surprising.
