Note: The Jets are in Missouri to complete the home and home series with the Blues. Yesterday in practice we learned the health status of Mathieu Perreault who looks like he will still won’t be back until Tuesday in Colorado. Puck drop is at 2 pm. Following the game be sure to check back for our post-game recap.
Note II: The Moose are back in action for the first time since the holiday break and they got some good news as Sami Niku will be a player today for the first time since November 27th. They could get a boost in net as Eric Comrie was placed on waivers for purposes of assignment to Manitoba although it doesn’t seem likely that he will make it through to the AHL (Update: He cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Moose). They will face off against the Rockford IceHogs at 2 pm and be sure to check back for our complete post-game recap.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Three bold predictions for the Winnipeg Jets in 2020. His predictions include: 1) Connor Hellebuyck will win the Vezina Trophy. 2) Last day, for all the marbles. 3) Chevy trades his first … again.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Winnipeg’s playoff spot is at risk, but its goaltending is not to blame. (Paywall). As always an insightful read from Murat.
Winnipeg Sun: Perreault on blindside hit ‘It was a pretty bad play’. I liked his response to the point when asked about Farabee making a name for himself and the Jets forward replied “that’s making a bad name for himself”.
Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck as confident as ever despite wobbly goals versus Blues. The Jets netminder is certainly a character, as are most goalies.
Winnipeg Free Press: Perreault speaks out after ‘bad play’ gave him a concussion. (Paywall). The veteran forward was rightly upset over the play that knocked him out of the lineup since December 15th.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Could Sami Niku be part of the solution? Big stretch ahead for Jets’ D prospect. (Paywall). And it all starts tomorrow as he gets into his first game since November 27th.
