Note: The Jets got some bad news ahead of their game against the Ducks on Tuesday as Patrik Laine was ruled out of the game with a lower-body injury and was listed as day-to-day by his coach. His absence and lack of a recall from the Moose meant the Jets went 11 forwards and 7 defenceman against the Ducks. The game started well for Winnipeg but a topsy-turvy 2nd period cost them the lead and ultimately the game as they dropped game one of the three game road trip by a final score of 7-4. The Jets are off today but will be back on the ice on Thursday for practice in San Jose.
Note II: Unlike the Jets the Moose got some good news on Tuesday as Sami Niku traded in his non-contact uniform for a regular one at practice. Today the team is off but like the Jets they will be back on the ice on Thursday for a practice as they get ready for a pair of afternoon games this weekend at Bell MTS Place against the Griffins.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: After 13 games, it seems this is pretty much what Jets are going to look like all season. It all adds up to the Jets collectively to the need to have 33 back in the lineup or at least some sort of resolution on that front. It has hamstrung this team and you wonder how much longer they can go without it being resolved. Of course with all the injuries with their Central division rivals right now it may allow the Jets to keep pace.
Sportsnet: 31 Thoughts. His preamble talks about the Heritage Classic. Jets talk is contained in thoughts 21 (Laine), 22 (Byfuglien/Coach), 23 (Sbisa) and 24 (potential interest in a NCAA free-agent left shot Dman).
The Athletic Winnipeg: 3 changes that Jets coach Paul Maurice should consider. (Paywall). Ken begins his piece talking about Hellebuyck and then gets into this three suggestions which include: 1) Giving Nikolaj Ehlers a shot on PP1. 2) Give Tucker Poolman another chance on the top pair. 3) Find more work for David Gustafsson.

The Athletic: 20 Questions with Teemu Selanne: On steak, Patrik Laine and eating a wine glass. He was in Winnipeg on Sunday and fans flocked to see the man who captured hearts in this city many, many years ago.
The Athletic Winnipeg: It’s back to business for a Jets team that has both impressed and disappointed. (Paywall). Ultimately Dustin Byfuglien will continue to be the story for the Jets this season regardless of the decision he makes.
Moose news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Vesalainen feels his time will come. (Paywall). The joy of the AHL is you can develop at your own pace without the same need for contribution like you see at the NHL level.
Winnipeg Free Press: Moose mired in six-game losing streak. (Paywall). It hasn’t exactly been a banner raising start to the 2019-20 season for the AHL club.
