Note: The Jets were off on Friday but return to the ice today at 11 AM for practice as they look to salvage this six game homestand (with the last game being next Saturday’s Heritage Classic in Regina). Be sure to check back for the Practice Report to get fully up-to-date with the latest news and audio.
Note II: The Moose played last night and lost a wild one (pun somewhat intended) to the Iowa Wild by a final score of 6-4. They took 10 minor penalties and were scored on three times which included the game winner. The team didn’t just lose the game however as they will hold Logan Stanley out of tonight’s game as he didn’t play the 3rd period of last night’s game, Sami Niku will also not be a player and the status of Cam Schilling is unknown after he took a huge hit in the 1st and didn’t return to the game. It will be a patchwork D corp for the re-match which goes tonight back at Bell MTS Place with a 6 PM puck drop.
Note III: Tune in for three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting at 9 am. We’ll have three hours of hockey talk so join us.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Numbers tell an ugly tale for Jets, but is it that bad? Scott looks at the good, the bad and the ugly at the nine game mark of the season for Winnipeg.
Winnipeg Free Press: So, how ’bout those Jets, eh? Nobody asked me, but... (Paywall). Mike examines the current state of things with the Jets and proposes some solutions, even if nobody is asking him for them, including: 1) It’s time to try Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele on separate lines. 2) It’s time to get some closure on the Dustin Byfuglien situation. 3) It’s time to fix the penalty kill. 4) It’s time to swing a trade. 5) Keep playing the kid.
Winnipeg Free Press: High-flying Ehlers even more dangerous with Connor as linemate. (Paywall). When you watch the two of them it isn’t hard to see the chemistry starting to really form between the two lightning quick wingers.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Analyzing the Jets’ defensive adjustments to see what is working and what needs to be changed. (Paywall). Murat goes deep on the Jets defence to date this season.
The Hockey News: Who make the first move? Five NHL clubs that could be looking to shake things up. For the Jets truly to be on this list they would need to know what is happening with number 33.
