Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets take hold of reins into the unknown heading into new season. Scott Billeck takes a deep look at the Jets roster as they head into the 2019-20 season.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets limp into opener against Rangers, missing many faces from last season. Ted’s big matchup is Mark Scheifele vs. Jacob Trouba. His five keys to the game include: 1) Between the pipes. 2) Old faces, new places. 3) Missing in action. 4) Leaning on core. 5) Five on five.
Winnipeg Sun: A look at who the Jets face in a tough Central Division. Scott goes team by team through the Jets division to give you some insight into the competition that Winnipeg will face this season as they try to make the playoffs for the third straight year.
Winnipeg Sun: Lemieux was shocked by trade from Jets but is enjoying life with Rangers. Ted caught up with the pair of former Jets players as they reflect on their time with Winnipeg and their new opportunities.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets Notebook. Scott looks at the shot Connor Hellebuyck took to the helmet yesterday, Nikolaj Ehlers and his brothers getting the season started, Niku in the AHL and adversity be damned.
Winnipeg Sun: Good friends Trouba, Morrissey helped each other land rich contracts. They patrolled the blue line together and formed a formidable bond on the ice and a deep friendship off of it. But tonight the friendship angle goes away as they both compete for that W.
Winnipeg Free Press: Trouba out to make ‘good memory’ of Rangers debut. (Paywall). It will certainly be a memorable game and not just for the Trouba vs Jets story line.
Winnipeg Free Press: Curtain rises on Jets’ season, but are they ready for Broadway? (Paywall). I’ve been saying it all summer that these Jets will be using an “us against the world” mantra this season.
Winnipeg Free Press: When push comes to shove… are the Jets ready to answer the bell? (Paywall). I wouldn’t expect this team to be dummied up by any of the 30 other NHL squads. While no obvious tough guys on this squad as a collective group they should be able to handle themselves.
CBC: Jets excited about opening season with young, revamped lineup. Young guns wanted to take steps forward last season and felt they were stymied in this pursuit. This season that won’t be a problem.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Adam Lowry on the Jets’ systemic changes, shiny cars and the little plays he never forgets. (Paywall). Murat had this Q & A with the Jets 2011 3rd rounder.
