Note: After a few days off the grid to re-charge the batteries I am back and here is a recap of the latest Jets news as we get ready to close out August and kick start the final bit of “slow time” before the season gets underway.

Note II:  Jets added some depth today announcing they have signed forward Gabriel Bourque who spent last season playing 55 games for the Avalanche.

Winnipeg Free Press: Wheeler already all-in for season. (Paywall). Mike McIntyre adds his thoughts on the upcoming season for the Jets captain.

NHL.com: Pionk eager to take on bigger role with Jets.  That’s probably a good thing because with the Jets losses on D Pionk will certainly get a chance to prove himself with the Jets this upcoming season.

TSN 690 Montreal: Jets management will be patient with their RFAs.  Former NHL defenceman Aaron Ward joined Simon Tsalikis and Joey Alfieri to discuss the entire RFA situation and what the next move will be for the team and players during their negotiations.

Sportsnet:  Sportsnet Today.  When asked about a situation that hasn’t received enough attention Jeff Marek said it is the situation between the Jets and Patrik Laine’s camp.  Starts at the four minute mark and runs a couple of minutes.
