Note II:  The Jets were on the ice on Friday at Bell MTS Place for practice and they got some good news with Dustin Byfuglien assuming his spot in the D pairings.  While coach Maurice wouldn’t confirm big number 33 was back in the lineup, provided he is feeling good/looking good today, there is a strong possibility he will find his way back into the Winnipeg lineup for the first time since February 14th.  And when you consider he played just five games after he missed a bunch of games with a different lower-body injury his injection into the lineup could be just what this team needs as they battle for top spot in the Central.  They will conclude the regular season (at home) tonight with a visit by the Habs.  Jets will have morning skate at 9:30 AM so be sure to check back for the pre-game report for the latest news and audio.

Note III:  The Moose were in San Antonio last night to play a pivotal contest against the Rampage as they battle for the 4th and final playoff spot in the Central with three other teams and after falling behind in the opening period two goals by veteran Ryan White in the middle frame and 27 saves from Mikhail Berdin was enough to give the Moose a 2-1 win.  With Texas winning in Iowa the Moose are one point back of the 4th and final playoff spot held by the Stars but they do have two games in hand on Texas.  Today they wrap things up against these same Rampage to conclude this five-game road trip.  Puck drop is at 7:00 pm.

Winnipeg Sun: Byfuglien to the rescue for Jets. We’ll know by morning skate the status of the Jets big man.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets back in Mr. Maurice’s class after defensively deficient Throwaway Thursday.  (Paywall).  Addition of 33 should help and when you add 44 that should ultimately help offset what has been a porous collective team.  Greater team commitment to D is paramount to success.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets’ leaky ship not built for success in NHL’s rough playoff waters.  (Paywall).  Andrew looks as the strengths and weaknesses of this Jets team ahead of the playoffs.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Legendary Hockey Night in Canada voice already the first star in bittersweet Jets-Habs tilt.  (Paywall).  OH BABY!!  He is a legend in this game and it will be a special conclusion to the home portion of the season.

Jets video:

TSN: Jets moving on from collapse against Islanders. The Jets blew a two-goal lead in the third period against the Islanders on Thursday night and it cost them vital points as they now sit just two up on the Predators with five games to play. Winnipeg used its off day to learn from its collapse and forget about it.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets SettingWinnipeg Sun Jets writer Ken Wiebe and reporter Scott Billeck talk about a bad trend of late losses, concerns emanating out of those and the pending return of Dustin Byfuglien to the lineup in the latest edition of Jets Setting.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: It’s easy to play the game when surrounded by great players. Winnipeg Jets forward Brandon Tanev joined Andrew Paterson and Rick Ralph on the Afternoon Ride. They discussed the Jets practice following the loss to the New York Islanders, what Dustin Byfuglien brings to the team, his record setting number of hits this season, setting a career high with 14 goals and his chemistry with linemates Adam Lowry and Bryan Little.
