Note: The Jets were traveling back from Vegas so there wasn’t an update on Laurent Brossoit who pulled himself from the game against Vegas on Thursday night. The team did recall Eric Comrie from the Moose and we should have a better idea following today’s 9:30 AM morning skate at Bell MTS Place what’s doing with the Jets backup. Be sure to check the pre-game report for the latest news and audio. Puck drop is at 6 pm.
Note II: With Comrie up to the Jets expectations were Mikhail Berdin would start last night to kick off the five-game road trip in Colorado. Instead he was ruled out with a non-hockey related physical injury. So in comes Ken Appleby to the rescue after flying in from Norfolk and he posts a 33 save shutout to lead the Moose to an important 2-0 win last night against the Eagles. The win put Manitoba just two points back of the 4th and final playoff spot in the central division. They have a re-match with Colorado tonight with puck drop at 8:05 pm.
Note III: Tune in for three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL hockey via the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting at 9 am. You can listen here.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets, Preds in Saturday night showdown for first place. The place should be rocking on a Saturday night.
Winnipeg Sun: Five keys to the game. Paul starts with his big matchup which is the blue lines. His five keys include: 1) What happens in Vegas. 2) Seize the moment. 3) Patrik Laine. 4) Get physical. 5) Power-play edge.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ first-round playoff foes likely Stars or Blues. (Paywall). At this point I think it is still too early to tell who Winnipeg will end up playing.
Winnipeg Free Press: Odds are Vegas hangover will be a short one for Jets. (Paywall). Just need to his one of those oxygen bars. That will usually get the job done.
Winnipeg Free Press: Byfuglien a key PP ingredient, but Jets find ways to cope while he’s out. (Paywall). Not easy to lose a player like 33 but not a bad idea to learn to play without the big man.
