Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Best of the Jets. Ed takes all the hardware the NHL awards at the NHL season and makes it specific to Winnipeg. Who would you choose to receive the Hart, or Norris, etc? Rather than make it individual, we would award the entire GST line with the Selke.
Winnipeg Free Press: Cautious free-agent approach paying off. Winnipeg didn’t go crazy like some teams making flashy signings part of the return of the Jets this past summer. This time around they have a number of UFA’s to sign but will have plenty of cap room to make those decisions.
Winnipeg Free Press: Thorburn’s injury leaves a big void. I suspect that Miettinen will get the call and convert the GST line back into the MSG line as he has some familiarity playing with Slater and Glass, back when coach Noel made Chris Thorburn a healthy scratch.
Winnipeg Sun: Road jinx holds for Jets. The goal coach Noel set was for the team to have a roughly 55% winning percentage on the road. But with last week’s disastrous road trip that percentage has now jumped to around 71% which is a tall task for a team whose road % is about half that number.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets losing ground in playoff race. Unfortunately for the Jets Sunday night was not one of those evenings you wanted to scoreboard watch. Both the Panthers and Capitals won to move further past the idle Jets. If Winnipeg wants to have any hope of the post season a big winning streak is in order.
Omaha World-Herald: Lancers’ Q&A with Tanner Lane. Just some info on the young prospect who was selected by Atlanta in the sixth round of the 2010 Entry Draft.
Next opponent news – Dallas Stars:
FS Southeast: Stars riding hot streak down final stretch. The bad news for the Jets is the Stars are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, having gone 9-0-1 in their last 10 starts. The only good news for Winnipeg is that Dallas plays in Minnesota the night before Wednesday’s contest at the MTS Centre.
ESPN Dallas: Penalty kill clicking for Stars. A team takes less penalties, gives up less special teams goals against and starts winning. Seems simple enough.
Dallas Morning News: Division-leading Stars know recent hot streak offers no guarantees. Aside from playing strong at home, the Jets have been great at streak busting this season. (registration required).
