Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news and audio.

Note:  The Jets began the 2018-19 season with a bang as they beat division rival St. Louis 5-1 last night.  The team is scheduled to practice today in Dallas as they get prepared to face the Stars tomorrow night in Texas.

Note II:  The Moose will begin their season tonight in Iowa at 7 pm as they look for a similar start to the one they had last season.  We will have more on the Jets affiliate later today so stay tuned.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets fly away with victory in opener. Ken provides his insight into last night’s contest.

Winnipeg Sun: Feeding frenzy on Laine’s comments absurd. I guess I missed this outrage at Laine as I was on the road but I’m glad I did as this is as Paul describes it “absurd”. He also wrote about Scheifele’s column on TSN.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets beat up on Blues in season opener with 5-1 win. (Paywall). Mike was in Missouri for the contest last night and this is his recap of the events.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets coach will have to deal with media questions regarding Stanley Cup contender. (Paywall). I suspect that being considered a cup contender by the hockey world makes that a little less onerous of a problem.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  Opening night ouch as Blues fall to Jets.  Read a recap of last night’s game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opposition.

TSN: Jets trounce Blues to take first step in long journey. Frank reports from St. Louis on how he saw last night’s game.

TSN: ‘You haven’t done anything until you’ve won a Stanley Cup’. The Jets top centre pens this piece on getting close last season and the focus on the upcoming one.

The Athletic Winnipeg:  With balance throughout all four lines, the Jets are a good bet to repeat their offensive success at 5-on-5.  (Paywall).  Murat has the Jets continuing their success at even strength which is pretty, pretty, pretty important.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Jets gained valuable experience last year. Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff joined Andrew Paterson and Rick Ralph on the Afternoon Ride. They discussed the start of the Winnipeg Jets season, the expectations for the year, the debut of Kristian Vesalainen, the increased role for Jack Roslovic, what he learned from last season and the team’s trip to Finland in November.
