Note:  The Jets opened up Free Agency on Sunday with the news that they had lost out on the Paul Stastny sweepstakes to their Western Conference Final rival Vegas.  The team did add a backupgoalie and made some additional depth moves all of which were discussed by GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets’ contingency plan now that Paul Stastny is gone. (Paywall).  When plan A doesn’t fall into place it is time to go to your alternate and Murat details what that might look like for the Jets.

NBC Sports:  Losing Stastny hurts but doesn’t break the Jets The Jets weren’t exactly limping along when they acquired him at the trade deadline this past season.  I believe they were in second place in the central which is where they finished.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets acquire Laurent Brossoit as backup for Hellebuyck.  (Paywall).  It wasn’t the big splash many were hoping for but perhaps Connor Hellebuyck’s partner in crime will find his way here in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Free Press: Price tag too high for Jets to keep Stastny. (Paywall).  While there is no doubt he would have been a nice piece of the puzzle the question of affordability definitely loomed large and would have ensured more surgery was required.
