Winnipeg Free Press:  Can’t let sentiment trump team goals.  The key difference this year as Gary says is that Jets fans are emotionally connected, once again, to a team so this trade deadline day has an entirely new feel to it.

Winnipeg Sun:  Short on commodities.  For fans of the GST line (and who isn’t a fan of one of the most fun lines in the NHL) that is music to their ears.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets recharge batteries.  Coach Noel seems fixated on managing energy levels as the race for the post season ramps up.  With all the games being played in close proximity he doesn’t want to over tax his team.

Metro:  Jets can afford to be patient.  Sometimes these deadline deals kill team chemistry just when it is most necessary for a team hoping to make a playoff push.

NHL.com:  Panthers extend lead in Southeast.  Unfortunately for the Jets, Florida is winning all the games in hand they help over Winnipeg.  They still have 3 games in hand over Winnipeg and currently sit 2 points up on the Jets.

National Post:  NHL rankings -the buyers and sellers.  The Jets are smack dab in the middle of the list.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show:  Part 1.  Richard, Drew and Ezra recap the week that was in trades.   Interview with Robin Short of the St. John’s Telegram.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show:  Part 2.  Interview with Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.  Jets week in review.  Interview with Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.  Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues preview.  RFA Analysis: What’s Ondrej Pavelec Worth?  Rapid Fire, Cheers & Jeers.

Next opponent news – Edmonton Oilers:

Edmonton Journal:  Oilers ready for deadline day.  The Oilers were expected to be movers and shakers this deadline day but after all the recent signings, that expectation has decreased.

Edmonton Journal:  Trip to Winnipeg brings back memories for KhabibulinJets 1.0 fans still discuss what seems like a 100 save performance against the Detroit Red Wings in Game 5 of the 1st round playoff series in 1996.  Expect a hearty applause from the MTS Centre crowd tonight.

Edmonton Sun:  Homecoming for Oilers Barker.  Always nice for guys from the Peg’ to be able to play meaningful games in front of friends and family.
