Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  View from the top spectacular, but fleetingWith Washington’s win last night the Southeast got ever tighter although the Jets remain 1 point ahead of  the Panthers and 2 points up on the Capitals.  Something tells me winning this division is going to go down to the end of the season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Schemes, screams will fill Jets war roomThe next 2 days are going to be quite intense for both Jets players and fans alike.  It will be quite difficult for fans to see players they have come to admire traded away but such is the business of hockey.

Winnipeg Sun:  Mason could get start. If he does we will be seeing the new pads and new helmet.  Should be quite the treat for Jets fans.  If he doesn’t start today against the Blues, he will likely debut the new equipment on Monday against the Oilers.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets legend left outI’m sure the Golden Jet will be taken care of, however, you cannot expect the Jets 2.0 to know all the comings and goings of everyone ever associated with the Jets 1.0.

Winnipeg Sun:  Swaggerville’s winter seasonI doubt the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers will have any problem sharing their slogan. It is quite noticeable how much more pumped/engaged people are in this city.

Globe and Mail:  How NHL coaches Hitchcock, Noel made a lifelong bondAlways interesting to gain some insight into the interpersonal relationships that some coaches form with each other.

NHL.com:  Pavelec, offensive surge spark Jets to division leadThese Jets sure have showed some scoring prowess scoring 21 goals in their last 5 gamesSomething tells me that the defensively minded Blues are not going to get into a goal scoring battle with Winnipeg.

Beausejour Review:  Oakbank kids love the JetsThe name of the team might be the Winnipeg Jets but this is not just a city team.  The rural community supports the Jets as well and these kids were happy to show their love for the team.

Illegal Curve:  Establishing Ondrej Pavelec’s market valueOur hockey analyst Richard Pollock takes an in-depth look at the potential value of Ondrej Pavelec on the market.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:

TSN:  Schultz, Bulldogs rally to beat IceCapsThe Caps slipped and gave up the win to Hamilton who had the recently acquired Blake Geoffrion in the lineup.  They remain tied for 1st overall in the AHL.

Next opponent news – St. Louis Blues:

St. Louis Dispatch:  Blues focus on defence after Russell’s injuryIt is unfortunate for the Jets that coach Hitchcock is expected to tighten his D against the Jets after they were uncharacteristically sloppy against the Predators.  While the Jets have scored at least 4 goals in each of their last 5 games, do not expect a high scoring affair this afternoon.
