Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets won their third straight game with last night 3-0 win over the Rangers in New York although it may have come at a high cost as Mark Scheifele sustained an upper-body injury when he collided with Blake Wheeler in the 2nd period.  Winnipeg has an off day today so we likely won’t get an update until tomorrow when they take to the ice in Newark ahead of their game against the Devils.  On the positive side of things Patrik Laine had a natural hat trick (the fourth trick of his young career) and Steve Mason picked up his first shutout of the season in his first start since returning from injury.

Note II:  The Moose kick off their seven game road trip today in Milwaukee as they take on the Admirals at 10:30 AM CST.  For most of the season Manitoba hasn’t had to look over their shoulders as they built themselves a significant lead in the standings but the Chicago Wolves have come hard charging and now sit just five points back.  The good news for the Moose is they have been an excellent team on the road and with the addition of Michael Hutchinson back into the fold have a top goalie tandem in the league.  Update:  Moose fell short in their comeback effort after erasing a 2-0 deficit losing 3-2 in a shootout.
