Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  Another day, another injury announcement for the Jets as you can now add goalie Michael Hutchinson to the list of walking wounded for Winnipeg.  He is out with a concussion and it will be Eric Comrie backing up Connor Hellebuyck for now.  The Jets will have a morning skate at 10:30 am and puck drop is at 7 pm when they face a Blues team that pummeled the Avalance last night in St. Louis by a score of 6-1.  Stay tuned throughout the day for any and all Jets news and updates via  Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  The Moose are also back in action tonight as they get ready to play the second last game of this nine-game road trip in Cleveland.  Looks like 2012 7th round Jets pick Jaime Phillips will have the net while Eric Comrie is up with Winnipeg.  Puck drop is at 6 pm at Quicken Loans Arena.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to the game for Jets vs Blues.  Paul’s big matchup are the goalies. His five keys include: 1) The Scheifele/Wheeler reunion. 2) Back-to-back Blues. 3) The opening 20. 4) About the power-play. 5) Stopping Vlad.

Winnipeg Sun:  To be honest, Jets didn’t expect to go 11-2-3 without ScheifeleAnd if that wasn’t enough they had a host of other injuries to deal with but perhaps this baptism by fire at this point in the season will serve this team well in the playoffs.

Winnipeg Sun:  Open arms, chirps, welcome Scheifele backThe ‘trade him’ talk has to be rather humourous for the Jets centre.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets SnapshotsLooks at Hutchinson out, Roslovic takes new role in stride, Copp an option at centre.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Winnipeg plans to keep winning with Scheifele.  (Paywall).  Hard to believe that the Jets lose their top centre and hardly miss a beat.  Impressive showing of the depth and versatility of the players in the organization but all the guys know that they need to get their foot on the pedal in order to be a serious playoff team.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hard-working Andrew Copp has potential for increased production.  (Paywall).   I have been impressed with his work ethic/dedication since he arrived in Winnipeg.  Even when he was sent down to the Moose he took it in stride and didn’t allow it to cloud his goal.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Put Wheeler back on wing when Scheifele returns.  (Paywall).  Former NHLer turned scribe Scott Campbell was advocating for this move and while we don’t know if coach Maurice was listening to him, he details why this makes the most sense.

Sportsnet:  Mark Scheifele on being hurt ‘You get bored pretty easily’Can only imagine how tough it would have been for a young player who was champing at the bit to get back into the lineup to miss that many games.

Illegal Curve:  Winnipeg Jets Practice ReportPainting you a complete picture of what happened at Bell MTS Place yesterday from the lines, health updates, recall news to audio from Wheeler, Scheifele, Roslovic, Chiarot and coach Maurice.
