Note: The Jets were on the ice on Wednesday and the Practice Report will bring you up to speed. They have another practice scheduled today as they prepare to face the Blues here tomorrow night. For today’s Practice Report click here.
Note II: The Moose fell 4-2 to Griffins in Grand Rapids last night and fall one game short of matching a franchise road record points streak which was set at 15 by the 2011-12 IceCaps. On a positive note Mason Appleton added an assist to push himself into a tie for 1st overall in AHL scoring, Buddy Robinson had two goals to eclipse the 20 goal mark for the first time in his career and captain Patrice Cormier set a new career high for points. Manitoba now has a record of 5-1-0-1 on this nine game road trip. The team travels to Cleveland today and will play two more games against the Monsters before heading back to Winnipeg.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Scheifele, Wheeler reunited. The lyrics from the 1978 Peaches & Herb song Reunited seem appropriate when talking about this dynamic duo who just work well together. “Reunited, and it feels so good Reunited ’cause we understood There’s one perfect fit And, sugar, this one is it…”.
Winnipeg Sun: If it ain’t broke... Lots of talk of the Jets making a move or two ahead of the upcoming trade deadline but perhaps the best move is not making one at all. Especially when you consider that Scheifele is expected back tomorrow night to be followed by the return of other injured Jets players.
Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele off the shelf, ready for game action. (Paywall). Considering this team didn’t just tread water but instead were highly successful without their top centre (as well as a host of other injuries to key players) is remarkable.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets players say no roster additions necessary. (Paywall). Not a real surprise that the players weren’t willing to put their GM hats on. Especially when you consider that if they acknowledge that they would like a move it would mean one of their present roster players would be gonzo. Not exactly something they’d want on the record.
Winnipeg Free Press: Dump & Chase: Invest in their rookie cards. Mike and Jason with their latest offering about the local squad.
The Athletic Winnipeg: How Winnipeg’s new top line of Perreault-Little-Ehlers became a dominant trio. (Paywall). Murat looks at how the Jets second has morphed into a top line.
Illegal Curve: Winnipeg Jets Practice Report. A look at some notes from practice, lines used during practice and audio from Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck.
