Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets finished off their pre All-Star schedule with a game against the Ducks last night in Anaheim where they lost 4-3 in a shootout.  Winnipeg is now on their three day break from today until Sunday and will return to the ice on Monday as they prepare for 10 straight games at Bell MTS Place.  The only two Jets that will be active over the next few days will be captain Blake Wheeler and goalie Connor Hellebuyck who head to Tampa Bay today to take part in the All-Star festivities this weekend.

Note II:  While the Jets are off the Moose are not as they kick off two games against the Rocket in Laval for the first time ever against the franchise formerly known as the St. John’s IceCaps (yes the same franchise name the Moose were previously known as).  The road warrior Moose are 15-4-1 in 20 road games this season and have points in nine straight road games (8-0-1) so they will hope to keep this rolling before they enter their All-Star break which begins on Sunday.  Morning skate in Laval kicks off at 10:15 am at Place Bell with puck drop at 6:30 pm CST.  Might the Moose get some guys back from the Jets (i.e. Lemieux and Poolman)?  Stay tuned to find out.

Note III:  Just after lunch the Jets announced they have recalled goalie Jamie Phillips from the Moose and reassigned Michael Hutchinson and Brendan Lemieux back to Manitoba.  My thoughts on what is happening are here.
