Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets look to keep the good times rolling when they welcome the Senators to town today.  Coach Maurice announced yesterday during media availability that Connor Hellebuyck would get the start today.  Morning skate is at 9:30 am and if there are gonna be any changes we will let you know in the pre-game report.  Update:  No Kyle Connor who is listed as day-to-day by head coach Paul Maurice.  Shawn Matthias moves into the lineup.  Check out the pre-game report.

Note II:  The Moose might never lose again.  Last night they won their ninth straight game as they beat the visiting Monsters 4-0.  The team has a chance to match the record 10 straight wins they achieved in 2008 when the Admirals come to town next week.  For now they will appear at the Assiniboine Park Zoo today from 2 pm until 3:30 pm.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets vs Senators.  Paul’s big matchup is Scheifele line vs Mark Stone. His five keys are: 1) Another run from Laine. 2) Out of the gate. 3) Don’t take ’em lightly. 4) More power. 5) Ignore the clippings.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets making wavesWhile the team is winning on the ice, off it they aren’t acting like they have accomplished anything.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Improved special teams big part of recent success.  (Paywall).  With the firepower they have and the way it clicked during the pre-season it isn’t a surprise that the power play is top three.  The penalty kill is hovering around 19th right now.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Kyle Connor adjusting quickly to life in the NHL.  (Paywall).  After watching him adjust to the AHL last season, I was not surprised to see him adjust back to being in the NHL after beginning the season with the Moose.  His speed and shot compliment playing with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler.

NBC Sports:  Jets have finally arrivedThe team may have physically showed up in the 2011-12 season but this is the first year we can see in both the parent and farm clubs the years of draft/development finally paying off.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Moose roll over Monsters 4-0 to win ninth in a rowI’m not sure this team is going to lose again.  While I am mostly kidding this squad of players has been remarkably consistent and just continued to improve each day I’ve watched them.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Monsters no match for mighty Moose.  (Paywall).  Mike recaps all the action from inside Bell MTS Place.

Illegal Curve:  November Report For a look down on the farm our November Moose Report is up. Overall look at the team as well as the top 10 prospects with the club.
