Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets ended October going 3-0-2 and will hope to continue with that momentum into November.  They take on another central division rival as the Dallas Stars are in town tonight with a 7 pm puck drop.  Jets morning skate is at 10:30 am and you can ensure you are up to date with the Winnipeg Jets pre-game report.  Until then be sure to check out yesterday’s Winnipeg Jets Practice Report which will bring you up-to-date with the latest news.

Note II:  The Moose dropped a 5-2 decision last night to the Condors as they kicked off their six game California road trip with a loss.  The team will have a chance to get back into the win column when they play the Stockton Heat on Friday night.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Lowry closing in on returnWith him closing on on a return to the Jets lineup it will be interesting to see what moves are made to get the Jets roster to be compliant.  Suspect it will be Tucker Poolman heading to the Moose to get into some games as opposed to watching from the press box.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets off to second best start since relocationAs we often talk about on the radio show, while you cannot make the playoffs in the first month of the season, it is always helpful to have these points in the standings bank as opposed to having to play catch up later in the season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets big centre itching for return to lineup following injury.  (Paywall).  Finally seeing Adam Lowry not in that bright yellow uniform must have been quite a sight for the coaching staff who value what the big centre brings to the Jets.  While he isn’t gonna play tonight it sure sounds like he is close to getting back into a game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hellebuyck staking his claim to blue paint.  (Paywall).  While this may not have been how the team drew things up when they signed Steve Mason to mentor the younger Connor Hellebuyck, I suspect they won’t be too upset if the younger tender seizes the net and Mason provides them with an able backup.  At the end of the day, the focus has to be on wins, regardless of which netminder is getting in the win column.

Jets audio/video:

Sportsnet:  Jets coming together behind Hellebuyck, not MasonHockey Central at Noon discussed whether they’re surprised at Connor Hellebuyck’s emergence as Winnipeg Jets #1 goalie, after they invested big for Steve Mason in the offseason.
