Note:  Lots of talk following yesterday’s practice about forgetting game one and a better adherence to team defence.  If you missed anything our Winnipeg Jets Practice Report bring you right up to date with lines/D pairs, health updates, quotes and audio (Trouba, Little, Byfuglien & coach Maurice).  The team is scheduled to hit the ice at 11 am for a skate at the IcePlex before departing on their three game road trip.

Note II:  The Moose kick off the 2017-18 season tonight against the defending Calder Cup champ Grand Rapids Griffins in Michigan.  Puck drop is scheduled for 6 pm.  You can listen to the game on Moose Hockey or TSN 1290 Winnipeg at about 7:30 pm.

Winnipeg Sun:  Maurice sends message after Jets blowout lossNo pressing the panic button just yet but a message was sent at practice.

Winnipeg Sun:  Don’t panic about Jets just yetPaul takes you aboard Air Jets and while there has been some turbulence in the initial take off, perhaps it won’t be such a bad flight after all.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Matthias says team must learn from past mistakes.  (Paywall).  Had the team buried a chance or two in those opening power play opportunities it would likely have been a different outcome but it doesn’t change the fact that the team D needs to be vastly better than what we saw on Wednesday.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Maurice creates some turbulence at practice after Jets’ opening-night flop.  (Paywall).  Quite the wake up call the team received at the hands of the Leafs on Wednesday night and then from their coach on Thursday.

Sportsnet:  ‘This franchise doesn’t move forward until it can defend’The end of coach Maurice’s scrum caught the attention of quite a few folks around these parts.

Jets audio:

Kidd says a majority of the Jets goals allowed were the result of a lack of positional awareness and mental errors, and discusses the team’s mental resilience.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Lack of discipline, structure left Mason guessingKevin Woodley of InGoal magazine joined the Afternoon Ride to discuss how the Winnipeg Jets defensive errors played a big part in the Jets 7-2 season-opening loss to the Toronto Maple leafs.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Disappointing opening night.  Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey joined the Big Show following the club’s 7-2 blowout loss to the Maple Leafs to break down what went wrong and the team’s defensive zone structure.

Jets video:

Sportsnet:  Did the Maple Leafs look really good or were Jets really bad?  Tim and Sid break down the blow out by the Toronto Maple Leafs in their opening game against the Winnipeg Jets and ask if it was really Jets goalie Steve Mason’s fault or a larger problem with his team.
