Note:  The Jets are off today as they concluded their pre-season games schedule with a shootout loss last night in Calgary.  While the team isn’t skating there may be some moves as it is expected the team will reduce their roster either today or tomorrow.  Plenty of intrigue with the battle for roster spots coming down to the end of pre-season.

Note II:  The Moose also lost last night in their second pre-season game in North Dakota.  They split the series the Iowa Wild, winning in Grand Forks on Friday before losing last night in Fargo.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets fall in shootout to end pre-season.  (Paywall).  If fans get nothing else this season other than watching Patrik Laine hit 50 goals it should be quite the treat.  He scored another two laser beams that Mike Smith has zero percent chance of stopping.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Fierce fight for spots in Jets’ bottom six.  (Paywall).  These battles may continue with some players nursing bumps and bruises in advance of the regular season which begins for Winnipeg on Wednesday when Toronto comes to town.

Sportsnet:  Copp goes down hard after blocking shot.  (Video).  The Jets bench boss indicated following the game that the x-ray was negative but that they will have to take another look at it after he blocked that Giordano shot off his knee.  

The Athletic: Steve Mason plans to provide the steady goaltending Jets need to take the next step. (Paywall).  Always enjoy seeing some new writing from the talented Eric Duhatschek.  This time he writes about the Jets newest goalie.
