Jets news:

Sportingnews:  Nic Petan and Marko Dano zero in on spots with JetsI read that title and the Monty Python fan in me hears “and there was much rejoicing”.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets score comeback win over Sens.  (Paywall).  Despite the Jets dominating in the Ottawa zone for significant periods of time it looked like the Sens were gonna waltz back east with the win.  But the Jets being power play specialists added another three on the PP to give themselves their second straight win.  Mike breaks it all down.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Victory a matter of chemistry for talented young Jets.  (Paywall).  Lots of talk about the importance of developing team chemistry from Jeff in this piece.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets power play stays hotThey look fairly unstoppable with the extra man during the pre-season although this isn’t likely sustainable during the regular season.  Ken recaps the contest.

Winnipeg Sun:  Ehlers more than high-speed offence.  Paul has lots in this one including: 1) Ehlers committment to defence. 2) Poolman as a potential seventh D man. 3) Perreault’s new additions. 4) Roster move.

The Athletic:  Not implausible that Jets penalty kill could be average. (Paywall). Perhaps if they take less penalties this season this can be minimized.

Sportsnet:  31 Thoughts.  Elliotte Friedman’s thoughts are back and few Jets thoughts including number 4 (Poolman) and number 15 (penalties & Wpg taking next step).

Sportsnet:  The definitive ranking of the NHL’s top 23 centres over three seasons.  Jets fans will be happy to see that Mark Scheifele has cracked the top 10 on this list of centres.  Certainly making that contract he signed look like a bargain for GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

ESPN:  Jets season preview.  Josh goes through the biggest changes, makes a case for, makes a case against, trade bait, goalie situation rating and the part I found most interesting was the comment by the NHL scout.

Jets 5 Senators 3:

Illegal Curve:  Post-game report.  Head back inside Bell MTS Place to hear from Nic Petan, Marko Dano, Nikolaj Ehlers, Tucker Poolman, Bryan Little and coach Maurice.
