Note:  With the team having played three games over the past four evenings there will be a reprieve from game play this evening.  The Jets have changed things up with group 1 not on the ice but group 2 will hit the ice at 12:30 pm.  However today’s practice has greater significance as Sean Reynolds of Sportsnet first reported, that retired referee Paul Devorski will be on the ice trying to help curb the Jets penalty problems.

Note II:  It was a busy Thursday as the team re-assigned four players to their junior clubs prior to dropping the 1-0 contest to the Wild in St. Paul.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Bubble guys running out of time.  With the coach talking about slimming down his training camp roster players have to realize that there opportunity to leave an impression has either been made or not.  Ken writes about the guys who have a chance to get to the next level.

Winnipeg Sun:  Robinson aims to leave mark.  When you’re 6’6″ you tend to leave a mark when delivering a big hit but Ken writes about the opportunity that Robinson sees in front of him.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets drop third game of the pre-season 1-0 to Wild.  (Paywall).  Is it time to hit the panic button?  Probably not but Jason gives us his recap from St. Paul of the latest contest for the Jets.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Slashing penalties pile up as ‘old habits die hard’.  (Paywall).  I don’t really have a problem as long as it is consistent and they continue to make these calls all season long and into the playoffs.  If you are going to institute a new rule then you need to call it regardless of when in the season it occurs.
