Note:  We’ve hit day 5 of Winnipeg Jets training camp.  Following last night’s 3-2 shootout loss training camp continues today with the first group on the ice at 9 am and the second group on the ice at 12 pm.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Poolman, Hellebuyck shine, but Jets drop pre-season opener in shootout.  The UND product made a nice debut but will be in tough to crack that Jets D.  Ken gives you his insight into the game.

Winnipeg Sun:  Connor looks to nail down spot on third line.  With all the penalties taken by both teams last night we didn’t get to see much of what the 2015 1st rounder has to offer but you can bet the showcase will continue.  Ken also writes about Matt Hendricks being ready for a battle and a look at what is upcoming.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets drop pre-season opener to Wild 3-2 in a shootout.  (Paywall).  Jason breaks down last night’s contest between the team from Friendly Manitoba and Minnesota Nice.

TSN:  Laine gives Jets a loaded top line.  (Video).  The Jets are starting camp with a top line of Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele, and Patrik Laine in hopes that the powerful trio finds the chemistry needed to take Winnipeg back to the postseason. Along with additions in net and along the blueline, That’s Hockey believes they could be a real threat in the Western Conference.

The Athletic:  It’s pretty obvious who belongs on Jets PP1 and it’s not their young stars.  (Paywall).  Lots of firepower to draw from and Tyler Dellow gives you his thoughts on who belongs on the top unit.  Considering how many power play opportunities we saw last night….
