Note:  Winnipeg Jets announced the times of training camp and the 53 players who are participating, which kicks off at the IcePlex on Friday (aka my birthday).

Note II:  While the team had their physicals this morning news broke that Bryan Little had signed a six year contract extension.  The longtime Thrashers/Jets centre solidifies Winnipeg up the middle for some time to come.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  7 questions about the Winnipeg Jets as they enter their 7th season.  (Paywall).  Jason and Mike kick off pre training camp with the following inquiries including: 1)  What is the goaltending plan?  2)  Will Kyle Connor emerge as a star?  3)  What’s up with the competition for work in the bottom six?  4)  Can the Jets solve their discipline, penalty-killing woes?   5)  How close is the fabulous Finn to reaching his potential?  6)  Can Maurice build an elite team? 7)  Will we see a return to form from Enstrom, Myers?

Winnipeg Free Press:  The message should be clear, time for Jets to walk the talk.  There have been many bold proclamations coming from the players and management as they know fans will only accept one outcome this season. 

Winnipeg Sun:  Burning questions for Canada’s seven teams.  Good friend of the show Michael Traikos writes about all the Canadian teams.  Regarding the Jets he wrote about the potential for the team to possibly inject more youth into the roster.

Sportsnet:  Keeping pressure off Laine, Jets ready to step forward.  (Video).  Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff sat down with John Shannon to talk about his expectations for the upcoming season, and why talking about expectations can be a dicey proposition for a hockey club.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Who’s to blame for Jets penalty problem?  Tyler Dellow of The Athletic joined the Big Show to delve into why the Winnipeg Jets have taken so many penalties and why it’s not a Paul Maurice problem, but it’s Paul Maurice’s problem.

TSN:  Bobcast GM Edition.  Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff sits down with Bob McKenzie to discuss the team’s outlook for the upcoming season, whether he believes they’re a playoff team and what changes they’ve made that make them a better team heading into the upcoming season.
